4 Good Questions about the Bailout
4 Good Questions about the Bailout from Time's list of 18:
1. How, exactly, is this bailout supposed to 'save' credit markets?
2. Why should Wall Street be bailed out? Won't it just make them all the more eager to engage in risky practices in the future?
3. Would the money be better spent just buying up the mortgages themselves instead of the securities?
4. What is the difference between Wall Street and a casino?

4 things I'm still worried about that could help McCain
4 things I'm still worried about that could help McCain, with one month to go:
1. Last-minute undecideds could break for McCain (but are there enough of them in swing states?)
2. Your next regularly scheduled Momentum Change should go to McCain (but will bad economic news ever go away?)
3. It's about to get nastier, and McCain's better at nasty. So are the Swift Boaters. (But does nasty work with independents?)
4. A terrorist attack or another bin Laden video would scare voters away from the newbie and back to the old soldier. (But can national security trump the economy as Issue #1 this year?)

4 key lines from the speech I heard Obama give in Grand Rapids yesterday
4 key lines from the speech I heard Obama give in Grand Rapids yesterday
1. "This financial crisis is a direct result of ... a philosophy that views even the most common-sense regulations as unwise and unnecessary. Well, this crisis is nothing less than a final verdict on this failed philosophy – and it’s a philosophy I’m running for President to end."
2. "My opponent ... says he’ll take on corporate lobbyists now, but he put seven of the biggest lobbyists in Washington in charge of his campaign. And if you think those lobbyists are working day and night to elect him just to put themselves out of business, well I’ve got a bridge to sell you up in Alaska."
3. "I will cut taxes – cut taxes – for 95% of all working families."
4. "This country and the dream it represents are being tested in a way that we haven’t seen in nearly a century. And future generations will judge ours by how we respond to this test."
