One of the interesting cultural things about international sports is that in sports in which the U.S. men are traditionally overwhelmed by foreign powers--soccer, hockey, bobsled--the U.S. dominates the women's side. Because the U.S., after Title IX, provides opportunities for women in sports, it will win, for example, the World Cup in women's soccer but not in men's, since other nations set the pace with men, whom they don't discriminate against. An example is the U.S.' gold medal in women's bobsled yesterday, after no U.S. man has medaled in the Europe-dominated sport in 46 years:
